Harvest & Community: Your Guide to St. George Farmers Market
Harvest Greetings at Ancestor Square
There’s a special kind of energy that fills the air on a Saturday morning in St. George, and much of it radiates from the heart of downtown. If you follow the sounds of live music and the scent of fresh pastries and coffee, you’ll find yourself at the St. George Farmers Market. Since its founding in 2007, this beloved outdoor market has been more than just a place to buy local produce; it’s a non-profit community project designed to connect us with the farmers, artisans, and neighbors who make our corner of Utah so unique. For over 15 years, it has served as a weekly celebration of local agriculture and community spirit, and I’m excited to share it with you.

When and Where to Visit
Finding the market is part of the fun, as it places you right in the center of the action. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit.
Location and Directions
The Downtown Farmers Market St. George is held in the charming courtyard of Ancestor Square, located on the northwest corner of Saint George Boulevard and Main Street. Its central location makes it a perfect anchor for a day spent exploring the vibrant downtown area. You’ll find it nestled among popular local eateries like George’s Corner Restaurant and The Painted Pony, making it a bustling hub of activity.

Where to park for the farmers market in downtown St. George? You’ll find plenty of free street parking on the surrounding blocks, as well as public parking lots nearby. It’s usually easiest to find a spot a block or two away and enjoy a short, pleasant walk to the square.
Market Hours: Open Year-Round
One of the best things about our market is its nearly year-round schedule, allowing you to support local vendors in every season. However, the hours change depending on the time of year.
- Peak Season (May through October): Every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Off-Season (November, December, February, March, April): Every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Closed: The market takes a short break and is closed during the month of January.
What to Expect at the Market
Each visit to the St. George Farmers Market offers a new experience, with vendors and products changing with the seasons. It’s a true feast for the senses, with a diverse array of goods that showcase the best of Washington County.
Farm-Fresh Produce & Local Goods
The heart and soul of the market are the local farmers. Here you can find fresh organic produce, from sun-ripened tomatoes and crisp greens in the summer to root vegetables and squash in the fall. Beyond fresh fruits and vegetables, you can also discover locally-raised meats, farm-fresh eggs, and jars of golden honey. Chatting with the farmers about their growing methods is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.

Artisan Goods and Handcrafted Items
The market is a showcase for local talent. As you wander through the stalls, you’ll find an incredible variety of handcrafted items, from handmade soaps and jewelry to unique pottery and artwork. It’s also a fantastic place to find delicious baked goods. If the freshly baked bread and pastries leave you wanting more, you can explore other fantastic local bakeries in St. George to satisfy your craving.
The Community Vibe: Live Music and Food Trucks
What truly makes this a beloved community event is the atmosphere. There’s almost always live music, creating a festive and relaxed backdrop for your morning shopping. You’ll also find a selection of food trucks and prepared food vendors offering everything from gourmet coffee to tasty breakfast burritos. The market is a key contributor to St. George’s vibrant culinary scene, offering a taste of local flavor you can’t find anywhere else. While the Ancestor Square market is the primary downtown farmers market, you may also come across others in the area, like the Tuacahn Saturday Market, which offers a different but equally enjoyable experience.

Roots of the Red Rock Region
The St. George Farmers Market is a modern celebration of a deep-rooted agricultural history. When settlers, called by Brigham Young, first arrived in this region in 1861, it was with the specific purpose of cultivating the land. This area, which became known as Utah’s “Dixie,” was chosen for its favorable climate, ideal for growing cotton, grapes, and other crops that couldn’t thrive elsewhere in the territory. This pioneering spirit and connection to the land are what we honor today every time we support a local farmer or artisan at the market. It’s a living link to the very foundation of our community.

Bounty and Farewell
The St. George Farmers Market is so much more than a shopping trip—it’s an investment in our community, a nod to our history, and a chance to enjoy the bounty of our beautiful red rock region. It’s where you can meet the people who grow your food, discover unique handcrafted goods, and feel the vibrant pulse of our town. Whether you’re a long-time resident or just visiting for the weekend, I encourage you to spend a Saturday morning exploring this local gem. You’ll leave with a full bag and an even fuller heart.
